Introduction

• Establishment & Affiliation: Maharajgunj Medical Campus (MMC) was established in 1972 (2029 BS) as the Central Campus under Tribhuvan University’s Institute of Medicine (IoM). It evolved from the “Auxiliary Health Workers’ School” to MMC, becoming the first medical school in Nepal to integrate a teaching hospital for practical training.
• Location: Located in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, MMC operates in association with the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), BP Koirala Lions Center for Ophthalmic Studies, and Manmohan Cardio Thoracic Vascular and Transplant Center.
• Role & Vision: MMC plays a crucial role in producing competent and diverse human resources for health (HRH) in Nepal. It trains personnel ranging from primary health care workers to medical super-specialists.
• Legacy: Over five decades, MMC has trained thousands of graduates, producing highly skilled doctors, medical specialists, researchers, educators, and public health professionals who contribute nationally and internationally.

Seats & Fees:

• All programs have specific seat allocations and fees regulated by the Medical Education Commission (MEC). Fees range from NPR 304,220 for MPhil to over NPR 4 million for MBBS.

Admission Guidelines

• Eligibility:
  • MBBS, MD/MS/MDS: MBBS or equivalent with one-year rotatory internship; registration with the relevant Medical Council; work experience required for most MD/MS/MDS programs (except MD GP).
  • Undergraduate allied health programs (BASLP, BSc MLT, BSc MIT, B Optom, BDS, B Pharm, BPH): Completion of 10+2 or equivalent with ‘C’ grade minimum in all subjects, biology mandatory.
  • MPhil in Clinical Psychology: Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology.
  • Other graduate programs: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university; some programs require work experience.
• Selection Process:
  • Students must pass the entrance exam conducted by the Institute of Medicine (IoM) / Medical Education Commission (MEC).
  • Admission is based on merit through open house/online counseling and computer-based matching system.
