Description
Program trains pediatric specialists in advanced neonatology through intensive clinical rotations, neonatal intensive-care exposure, procedural competency, interdisciplinary case management, and structured academic evaluation. Selection follows MEC entrance testing. Completion requires mastery of neonatal physiology, diagnostics, critical care, procedural skills, and research principles.
DM Neonatology is a 3-year super-specialty doctoral program focused on advanced neonatal intensive care, high-risk newborn management, and neonatal research.
The DM Neonatology program at B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), Dharan, trains pediatricians to function as independent neonatologists. The program emphasizes neonatal critical care, neonatal interventions and procedures, management of extreme prematurity, congenital disorders, neonatal surgery interface, and evidence-based neonatal practice. Residents are engaged in service, research, and teaching throughout the program. Final examinations are held between 34–36 months, with a maximum completion limit of 6 years.
