MS General Surgery

Three-year, full-time residency program under Tribhuvan University designed to produce competent general surgeons equipped with the knowledge, clinical skills, operative abilities, and professional judgment required to manage a wide range of surgical conditions safely and independently.
Program integrates basic surgical sciences, clinical rotations, operative training, emergency surgery, trauma care, perioperative management, and research. Structure emphasizes intensive hospital-based learning, ward management, outpatient care, on-call responsibilities, journal clubs, case presentations, seminars, and thesis development. Graduates develop broad competence in surgical decision-making, operative techniques, patient communication, and interdisciplinary coordination, preparing them for independent surgical practice, subspecialty training, or academic roles.

Rapti Academy of Health Sciences (RAHS) initiated the MS General Surgery program in 2025 AD. The Medical Education Commission (MEC) has allocated one seat for admission in this program for the 2025 academic year.

MS General Surgery at Patan Academy of Health Sciences is a three-year postgraduate program focused on comprehensive surgical knowledge and skills across general and specialty surgery.

Description
The program trains graduates to manage surgical conditions using both operative and non-operative methods. It emphasizes clinical competence, patient safety, research integration, and ethical practice. Training occurs primarily at Patan Hospital with possible rotations to peripheral or specialty centers. Tuition is waived for candidates who accept a mandatory service obligation.
