Purbanchal University — Serving Eastern Nepal

Purbanchal University, established in 1993, is headquartered in Morang district in eastern Nepal. It was created with the vision of decentralizing higher education and providing opportunities to students in the eastern Terai and hill regions who previously had to travel to Kathmandu for quality education.

Faculties and Academic Structure
Purbanchal University operates through 7 faculties:
1. Faculty of Management: BBA, BBS, MBA, and MBS programs
2. Faculty of Science and Technology: BSc, BCA, BE, and MSc programs
3. Faculty of Medical and Allied Sciences: MBBS, BDS, nursing, and pharmacy programs

Challenges and Growth
Purbanchal University faces challenges including limited research output compared to TU and KU, infrastructure gaps at some affiliated colleges, and competition from other universities expanding into eastern Nepal. However, the university continues to grow its program offerings and has made progress in quality assurance, with several affiliated colleges completing UGC's QAA process.
