CTEVT (Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training)

The Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) is the primary government authority in Nepal overseeing all technical and vocational education programs below the university level. Established in 1989 under its own Act, CTEVT operates under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and functions as both a regulatory and operational body for vocational training across the country.

CTEVT governs a wide range of programs including the glossary/tslc" class="text-blue-600 hover:underline">Technical School Leaving Certificate (TSLC), typically a 15 to 18-month program, as well as three-year glossary/diploma" class="text-blue-600 hover:underline">diploma programs in fields like civil engineering technology, electronics, computer technology, agriculture, and health sciences. CTEVT also oversees short-term skills training programs designed to equip workers with practical trade skills for employment within Nepal and abroad.

CTEVT-affiliated institutions include government-run technical schools, community polytechnics, and private technical institutes spread across all provinces. These institutions provide an alternative academic pathway for students who complete Grade 10 (SEE) but wish to pursue a skill-based or technical career rather than a traditional academic degree. TSLC and diploma holders can also pursue further studies — some universities recognize CTEVT credentials for lateral entry into bachelor's programs.
