MCh GI Surgery at Kathmandu University is a structured, high-intensity superspecialty program designed for surgeons seeking mastery in gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, pancreatic, colorectal, and minimally invasive surgery. Training spans complex operative procedures, critical care of surgical patients, perioperative decision-making, and academic research. The program follows MEC regulations for selection and assessment. Trainees rotate across GI surgery units, endoscopy services, ICUs, and oncology pathways, gaining competence required for consultant practice.
MCh GI Surgery is a 3-year super-specialty doctoral surgical program focused on advanced gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and colorectal surgery.
The MCh GI Surgery program at B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), Dharan, trains surgeons for independent super-specialty practice. The program emphasizes complex GI surgical procedures, peri-operative care, emergency surgery, research, and academic teaching. Residents function across service, research, and teaching domains under strict institutional protocols. Final examinations are conducted between 34–36 months, with a maximum completion period of 6 years.
