DM Neonatology is a 3-year super-specialty doctoral program focused on advanced neonatal intensive care, high-risk newborn management, and neonatal research.

Full Description

The DM Neonatology program at B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), Dharan, trains pediatricians to function as independent neonatologists. The program emphasizes neonatal critical care, neonatal interventions and procedures, management of extreme prematurity, congenital disorders, neonatal surgery interface, and evidence-based neonatal practice. Residents are engaged in service, research, and teaching throughout the program. Final examinations are held between 34–36 months, with a maximum completion limit of 6 years.

Salient Features

• Monthly subsistence allowance equivalent to Senior Resident salary for 3 years
• FDP candidates receive institutional salary or Senior Resident salary, whichever is higher
• One-time thesis grant of NPR 10,000
• Mandatory emergency, night duties, and district hospital postings
