IOE Entrance Exam

The IOE Entrance Exam is administered by the Institute of Engineering (IOE), a faculty of glossary/tribhuvan-university" class="text-blue-600 hover:underline">Tribhuvan University (TU), to select students for its Bachelor of Engineering (BE) programs. IOE is Nepal's most established engineering faculty and includes constituent campuses such as Pulchowk Engineering Campus, Thapathali Campus, and Pashchimanchal Campus, among others. The entrance exam is one of the most competitive in Nepal's engineering education sector.

The exam is typically held annually and covers four subjects: Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, and English. Students must have completed Grade 12 with the Science stream (Physical Group — Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry) under glossary/neb" class="text-blue-600 hover:underline">NEB. The syllabus is closely aligned with the Grade 11–12 NEB Science curriculum. A minimum percentage in Grade 12 may also be required for eligibility.

IOE offers a range of engineering disciplines including Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Architecture (at select campuses). Seats are limited, particularly at premier campuses like Pulchowk, which makes the exam highly competitive. Thousands of students appear annually for a relatively small number of available seats.
